OMT WebOrganization and Management Theory Division of the Academy of Management
Pablo MARTIN de HOLAN, Instituto de Empresa, tells us all about OMT's technical happenings.
Well hello there! (This said using the tone of the old Lady on Tim Burton's Corpse Bride). It is nice to write to you again, after a few newsletters of silence. It is not, as Jane Dutton once told us, that I had lost my voice, it is simply that I had no words to say what I wanted to say. It happens to the best Professors, and obviously to others too.Today I wanted to comment on our new site. As you have realized, AOM has made a significant effort to update its web platform, and migrated it to a language called Joomla, which makes it easier to post content. You will have probably noticed that the website is a little more elegant (although now I have no saying about the content: it is the template chosen by AOM that is displayed on your screen) and has a lot more material, particularly in the sections that matter to you. Specifically, now we have1) A description of the Executive Board, and the roles of each of the officers.2) A history of the Board, with the year-to-year trajectory of officers as they move on their roles from one year to the other.3) A beefed-up teaching resources section, with diverse syllabi and other resourcesI am working now on digitizing resources that were present on previous versions but that now need to be migrated from one language to the other. This is not very difficult, but it is immensely time consuming, so I am working with the very helpful technical people from AOM to create a script that will post all available newsletters and all the OMT-L archives. Since they are much better at coding than I am, this should not take very long. In the meantime, if you need access to these resources, they are asleep on my computer and, life being what it is, on a backup copy in case my laptop gets stolen or decides to check its ability to withstand a three foot vertical drop.Once again, your comments, suggestions and other dithirambic comments are welcome. Just send me a smoke signal or an email to
and I will be happy to oblige.Virtually YoursPablo MARTIN de HOLAN
