We are pleased to introduce the second issue of the RM Forum. As you know, the Forum was initiated last year to consolidate the substantive features of the RMD Newsletter into one annual issue published each summer. The Forum is a vehicle for tips and ideas from experts in various methodological areas, point-counterpoint discussions, information on research methods resources, and other topics and issues of interest to members of the Research Methods Division and the Academy at large. The Forum also provides an arena for presenting and generating reactions to new methodological developments, thereby providing a useful return to authors of Forum articles.

In this issue, we are fortunate to have articles from a variety of scholars with established expertise in various areas of research methods. A few of the articles originated from discussions on RMNet, with an emphasis on topics that stimulated interest and debate. People actively involved in these discussions have graciously offered to summarize their views for the Forum. The other articles address current methodological issues that should be of interest to many Forum readers.

Collectively, these articles address the following topics:

On behalf of the Research Methods Division, we gratefully acknowledge the contributions of these individuals and thank them for their time, effort, and insights!

If you have comments, questions, or suggestions, please contact Jeanne King or Jeff Edwards or another officer of the division. Ideas for and drafts of submissions are given serious and appreciative consideration.

We hope you enjoy this issue of the Forum!
